He talks about the Contracts for Society and the "Looting" of Black Bodies by the Police. Worth a listen.

He put a lot into that, all coming from his heart. That, and a whole bunch of critical thinking and life experiences. Trevor Noah is a sharp cookie, but Damn, that segment was a boomer out of the park!

(25,979 posts)I was reminded of MLK's I Have a Dream speech:
https://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/mlkihaveadream.htm
But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.
Noah is revisiting this idea because the same issues and problems are still with us, exacerbated by a lack of strong, conscientious leadership. Our society is not honoring its contract equally with all citizens -- it never has. It's especially obvious, damaging, and unbearable during this pandemic. He's brought these thoughts forward to today and connects them to what is happening right now in such a meaningful and thought provoking way.
Thanks for posting this.
