(54,770 posts)and Velchi was behind the targets. I'm not for any firing, but the police aren't targeting PRESS is this case, any more than they are cars hit by pepper balls or tear gas.

(90,202 posts)I'm not picking on you, by the way. I started calling this out last night (Saturday night). Someone was posting really incendiary stuff off Twitter, but it might have been happening in Podunk, Peoria, or the Moon, for all I could tell.

(83,356 posts)Also said to have been hit by rubber bullets. Same happened last night...several reporters hit by rubber bullets, not sure where.
Rubber bullets can be lethal.

(83,356 posts)They were down street. I was watching. They are targeting the press. I have money on who suggested they do so.
Also...

(54,770 posts)to save lives, but tear gas for crowd control and MAYBE rubber bullets in a few situations isnt targeting press.
Same answer, trending all early morning that he was shot.

(4,149 posts)I don't believe a fucking word the police ever say. They ALWAYS lie.
The police will deny this ever happened.

Not saying shooting rubber bullets was necessary, but there is no indication PRESS is targeted.

I'm not saying it's right to shoot anyone with pepper balls, but I don't see a concerted effort to target/silence PRESS. Sorry.

(12,792 posts)I was watching after he recovered from coughing due to the tear gas, and then doubled over in pain grabbing his leg and finally the camera had to cut away. How is that not being targeted?

(12,792 posts)about 6:20 into it, there was one black protester and he was nowhere near Velshi.
Hoyt
(54,770 posts)around and look in other direction. I'm not saying anyone should be shot, even with pepper balls.

Honestly, when so-called protesters are doing this to store owned by Black ladies, something has to be done.
This is Atlanta, which I was watching last night. People, supposedly protesting George Floyd being killed by police, did this Saturday:
https://www.ajc.com/news/crime--law/for-vandals-black-owned-businesses-not-exempt-during-atlanta-protest/gQoLWLIDLW49MVIodPA0ZK/
"The Wilbourns had hung hand-written signs identifying the shop as a black-owned business. However, those signs did not stop someone from throwing a rock through the boutiques display window, breaking it to pieces.
"Other businesses, including black-owned ones, were damaged in similar fashion throughout the city."
This ain't protesting either:

Personally, I'd like to see protesters lined up Monday morning around Governor's Mansion, Capitol, Police Station, even on major thoroughfares, holding signs saying "BLM" as patrols leave and officials arrive. It'll do more good than what's going on this weekend.
AntiFascist
(12,792 posts)that the protesters were not doing anything violent and there was no reason for the officers to be firing on them. The violence displayed at other protests was not happening in this instance!
Lock him up.
(6,874 posts)I watched LIVE too.
Later on, like an hour or so after (when it was dark), he said they identified themselves (crew) by yelling "PRESS" and one of the un-Constitutional thugs' voice replied "WE DON'T CARE" at them!!
