A surreal, awful, unbelievable night. Watching a live news feed from Raleigh

Just listening to the tone of the reporting media.

Peaceful protests during the day - now talking about crimes, stealing, looting, vandalism - Fayetteville and Raleigh showing live looting - people running in and out of a mall with loads of stuff, then scads of police cars screeching in, arrests - in Raleigh, showing all sorts of stuff being thrown at the police, you can hear the breaking glass, and a CVS store in Raleigh showing a constant flow of looters in and out....lots of teargas being shot. It is escalating, more people showing up, more chaos.

The way the reporters are reporting it, the message is getting lost, and it is all about the vandalism, looting - "crimes" as they are saying repeatedly.

Not being judgmental at all because the centuries of inequality come bubbling up, and trump and his stupid tweets are like putting a match to kerosene.

But .... I've got no words for this.

Fire and big truck at the DGX Store. Idiot protesters taking selfies and interrupting the reporter. This is really distressing. Mayor Baldwin has no comment at this time, same with the Chief of Police. Fayetteville, NC is a mess as well. Day protests were peaceful but now they're looting a mall.

it is quite rural here - it seems like a totally different world, between the social distancing - it is hard to make sense of it all.

for their response, or lack thereof. Residences are above the DGX (Dollar General Express) store that's on fire. Oof, this is NOT good. As someone who attended many Moral Monday events downtown, this really saddens me.

is going to sit REAL WELL with all those suburban women who turned on Trump and flipped the House in 2018. I was getting my hopes up for November but now I'm not so sure. I saw in another thread something about protesters threatening to bring the "fight" to the 'burbs. If that happens, we will NEVER be rid of Trump.

I hope I'm wrong but my gut is telling me I'm not. We need a Bobby Kennedy -- anyone in our party able to rise to that level?

With the amount of cameras on the streets of these cities, would think it would be easy to see who's doing what.

Gucci and Louis Vuitton stuff, breaking into stores, College Football Hall of Fame, setting some fires, throwing water bottles, rocks, fireworks at police, etc. Small percentage, but that doesn’t help cause.

Marie C
@9woodMac
San Antonio protest march was successful because of how it was organized. Everyone understood the protocol. But then these idiot kids decided to riot TWO hours after it was over destroying downtown. Disappointing.

*************************

The mayor is saying the same thing as this twitter post.

A reporter was just tear gassed. And San Antonio never has this kind of stuff. We usually just get those gun nuts at the Alamo etc and everyone just stays away from them.

A lawless president inciting violence. People out after weeks of lockdownn. Zero national leadership. Murder after murder by cop. The powder keg finally exploded and Trump/the GOP are standing around with spent matches. I don’t know what else to say except all hell is breaking loose, and we don’t have the moral leadership to stop it or even try.
