(15,789 posts)Talk about a tragedy. The White House is more then the current occupant.

(365 posts)I just want him and his family to have a complete breakdown in fear because the flames are so close. The actual WH is sacred, as an historical building and the stories within it.

(15,398 posts)The WH has teams and teams of heavily armed personal working there, including anti-aircraft turrets on the roof. Plus the nearest military base isn't far, can get there ASAP for backup.

(5,857 posts)has all the ceremonial Marines / Marine Security Guards based in DC, with a bunch of them living living in the Barracks. It would take minutes if they are already on standby to have a company or more there.

(3,282 posts)was coming from a storage building in Lafayette Square directly across the street from St. John's Episcopal Church. CNN showed up up close. The square is between that street and the White House and the park area looked to be completely full of cops. The protesting that I saw didn't seem to be near the White House like it was the other night when they were at the barricades on the other side of the square on Pennsylvania Ave.
