US Food Prices Register Historic Increase

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — As if trips to the grocery store were not nerve-wracking enough, U.S. shoppers lately have seen the costs of meat, eggs and even potatoes soar as the coronavirus has disrupted processing plants and distribution networks.

The cost of food bought to eat at home skyrocketed by the most in 46 years, and analysts caution that meat prices could remain high as slaughterhouses struggle to maintain production levels while implementing procedures intended to keep workers healthy.

While price spikes for staples such as eggs and flour have eased as consumer demand has leveled off, prices remain volatile for carrots, potatoes and other produce because of transportation issues and the health of workers who pick crops and work in processing plants.

In short, supermarket customers and restaurant owners should not expect prices to drop anytime soon.

to eat healthy AND once prices go up, they rarely come down. Gasoline is one exception I can think of.

Continue to stall and stiff the American people and small businesses from getting stimulus money. Trumps also working to back lower wages and rally against unions . He will have excuses then to promote them lowering your wages, and benefits. Trump is causing the trump depression now. We've already been in a recession, so the markets are being pumped up by trump using our money, but it can't keep doing this much longer, and it will crash from his and GOP failures, again.Trump and the GOP will pay for everything they've done, just wait, good always wins out over evil, and it will against these people too. People are going hungry because of these two people now while they watch them be forced back to work in to unsafe conditions.
