Rather shocked there was apparently no fire sprinkler system.

The reason it's a problem that you can't "I don't care about material things" away is that these criminals don't limit themselves to cars when they get the urge to create mayhem. They're antisocial and they think destroying things is fun. This is not OK and it leads to even more not OK things.
