(53,776 posts)to make anti-fascists look bad. That has Russian bot smell all over it. Falling for that is about as ridiculous as Barr and trump calling Antifa a terrorist organization, as if they are an organized entity with officers and the like and their headquarters will be raided.
How dumb can you get, or are you one who we should cast the side eye at as well?

Russian disinformation being spread here on DU. A domain registration is nothing. I did a search for myself and I got different registrar and a different country (Panama). Also, the name was opened to be purchased by anyone.
Remember Russia works in concert with the Trump campaign, we have to be very careful.

(12,712 posts)Who would want to make Antifascists look bad? Who would want to fashion a straw scapegoat that then could become a blanket term for anyone you want to incarcerate or get rid of? That could include liberals, progressives, academics eventually, etc. Or, anyone you want to.
They know what they are doing in steering the narrative into to a rather nebulous scapegoat utility. This is Fascist playbook material.
Hmmm?

by right wing extremist to blame all the violence going on now on the left.
The antifa movement is on our side. Don't you remember during the Charlottesville debacle of the neo-nazis, KKKers and alt-right assholes? Antifa were the ones opposing them, they actually saved a group of rabbis from being attacked by the alt-right goons, among other activities against trump's "fine people".

I get it. Antifa was originally, and still is a good thing...being anti-fascist is good. But this is like the new strawman they will be shooting down.
The "caravans of illegals" is going to turn into "Antifa"

(6,137 posts)now you know whenever antifa is invoked, it is likely disinformation. It has become a dog whistle word for white supremacists.

A Twitter account claiming to belong to a national antifa organization and pushing violent rhetoric related to ongoing protests has been linked to the white nationalist group Identity Evropa, according to a Twitter spokesperson.
The spokesperson said the account violated the company's platform manipulation and spam policy, specifically the creation of fake accounts. Twitter suspended the account after a tweet that incited violence.
As protests were taking place in multiple states across the U.S. Sunday night, the newly created account, @ANTIFA_US, tweeted, Tonights the night, Comrades, with a brown raised fist emoji and Tonight we say 'F--- The City' and we move into the residential areas... the white hoods.... and we take what's ours
This isnt the first time Twitter has taken action against fake accounts engaged in hateful conduct linked to Identity Evropa, according to the spokesperson.
The antifa movement a network of loosely organized radical groups who use direct action to fight the far-right and fascism has been targeted by President Donald Trump as the force behind some of the violence and property destruction seen at some protests, though little evidence has been provided for such claims.
Other misinformation and misleading claims spread across Twitter on Sunday night and into Monday related to the protests.
Two hashtags that trended worldwide on Twitter falsely claimed that there was a "cover-up" or a "blackout" of protests in Washington, D.C., overnight. Both appeared to insinuate that protesters have been silenced in some way, perhaps by a secret internet blackout.

(11,306 posts)the OP heading makes a statement that is just flat out wrong. Wiggling around to later say well it really meant this other thing .. still calling BS. And you'll notice that a lot of other posters weighed in on the same note.

(11,306 posts)you keep making statements that are just flatly untrue. You appear to have very little real understanding of antifa at all. After a while people have to start wonder where the "dis-information" really lies.

Antifa is an international movement that gets it's name from the German 30'ies movement Antifaschistische Aktion that was against Hitler.Link to tweet
Anyone can buy and squat on a domain. But, it's not a movement--it's more of an ideology (anti-fascism).
I will use the common RW meme. Gee, it's amazing how universal they are.
