We need 100M Americans to take the streets this Saturday and Sunday.

Just shut the nation down. We need peaceful protests in every village and hamlet. We need to build off the Women’s March and the March for Our Lives.

We’ve been out in force for a week but it’s not enough.

This has been a historic statement. But we need another historic statement.

I’m tired of the inaction. We need to mobilize the young people and vote. I have 2 kids but it’s time for the families to get out and help back up the youth who’ve I’ve mostly seen take the streets.

We must have police reform. We must address mass incarceration. We must address racist leaders and speak truth to power.

I don’t know if we can make it happen but we need the largest rally in the history of the planet. The Women’s March was started on social media. Do you think we can surpass that by 100X?

Let’s build a better future for every child in America.

Last I checked it was still a big threat, and large gatherings were incredibly dangerous and likely to spread the virus not just to attendees but to their families, workplaces, etc. Unless it's gone away this sounds like a terrible idea.

Almost every face everywhere is covered with a mask, people are carrying and using sanitizer. The fact that they are protesting in the face of a pandemic should tell you that your fellow countrymen and women feel strongly enough about racial injustice that they would risk death to make their point.

They don't need you worrying about them because of coronavirus. They have weighed that danger for themselves.

The military is out there with bayonets and bullets. I don't hear you worrying on their behalf because of that danger.

eta - you know, I just popped off at you, and I don't mean to take your head off. I do see your point. There are some gatherings that are so close together it makes me uneasy. I do worry about people getting sick. I also admire them for the choice they've made to stand up and make a difference.

I truly believe our country is hanging in the balance and I am grateful the them for that.

I'd join a peaceful daytime, moving, not so closely gathered protest if I could--but I live in the middle of nowhere and there are no protests here. I can certainly understand why others would disagree.

virus is going to spread.
That's just simply a fact. And since the virus is infectious, it's not just going to stop with them.

those who do will wear masks and follow anything else to protect others.

Older people who are more directly and immediately affected are not out there right now .

My response was to the person that called for 100 million to get out there and why that isn't going to happen even if people wanted to. Usually political protests like the women's march were dominated with older people. That will not happen again until we can find a way to deal with this virus.

Very large crowds gathering, people are in close proximity, a lot of them are not wearing masks or wearing them incorrectly. In any case, homemade masks only prevent some of the spread. These people are also talking loudly or screaming, which spreads viral particles everywhere.

Let's don't go too far.
If that amount of Americans came together, as the previous post says, it would be a disaster.

It might kill so many people Trump would win

I hope these protests, which to me are overblown and need to stop( YOU MADE YOUR POINT) don't cause too many people to get COVID.

You can have a rally. Wear masks, stand 6 feet apart, don’t chant, use drums to keep the beat while walking, and let speakers do the talking.

The ERA marches were very formal and the marchers were spaced apart and in rows. It can be done!

Don’t lose your passion!

There's an old Buddhist principle called skillful means

It says if you have a cause make sure you use wisdom not emotionalism to be at the forefront of your cause or you may do more harm than good though your intentions may be in the right place.

I’m afraid this protest may not be utilizing skillful means

I hope I'm wrong

we better not need 100 million out there, spreading the virus.

Because it's not going to happen. If only 72 million voted against Trump, we're not going to find 100 million on the streets this weekend.

There were about two hundred protesters at one Clearwater protest last night. Driving home a saw a couple of other small groups on street corners.

I think 100m is doable if counted over three days. Maybe a bit optimistic. Fri - Sun. I will be out there.
