of innocence and started talking to the cop.

14. I thought the same.

A child that young might remember the experience of attending a peaceful protest, but its meaning may not be clear. I might take an older child, like age 10, because it is likely to be more impactful. But given how these protests have gone, I doubt I'd take a child at all, except for maybe the first hour.
