'He wears the armor of God': evangelicals hail Trump's church photo op

No one accuses Donald Trump of subtlety. When the US president raised a Bible overhead on Monday evening outside St John’s Episcopal church in Washington DC, the sign was unmistakable: an appeal to his white evangelical base for loyalty, as protests and riots roared across America.

Not every Christian answered the call. The Rev Gini Gerbasi, an Episcopal priest, said police used teargas to drive her and others from St John’s before Trump’s appearance. “They turned holy ground into a battleground,” she told Religion News Service.

But many of Trump’s evangelical supporters, far from Washingtons political stage, saw the move as a victory in a world rife with evil.

We just have to vote in numbers that Completely
overwhelm their zealous voice at the voting booth.
We won’t change them. But we do outnumber them.
Go for the votes, not the ideology.

The largest number block of people, by far, this last election, were the non-voters. With the corruption, domestic and foreign, and the hacking and interference that will plague this election, we gotta get those numbers wayyy down and voters wayyyyyyyy up.

The pandemic will surge again this summer. Another obstacle to battle. And I seriously doubt the weather and Mother Nature will be cooperative this coming season. We really are in the fight for our country.

But we have the numbers on our side. Big time.
We just have to get counted.

(That was my fairly weak-assed hope and rah rah pep talk for the day before I see what new horrors are thrust upon us this afternoon. I’m now going to go FaceTime with my grandchildren. They save me.)
