White House compares Trump's church visit to Churchill

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Wednesday compared President Trump’s photo opportunity in front of St. John’s Episcopal Church to former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s examination of World War II bombing damage in 1941.

The press secretary likened the controversial walk by Trump, which was immediately preceded by police aggressively pushing peaceful protesters out of Lafayette Square, not only to the famous Churchill visit but also to several notable moments in U.S. presidential history.

"Through all of time, we have seen presidents and leaders across the world who have had leadership moments and very powerful symbols that were important for a nation to see at any given time to show a message of resilience and determination," she said, "Like Churchill, we saw him inspecting the bombing damage. It sent a powerful message of leadership to the British people."

McEnany then mentioned George W. Bush throwing out the ceremonial first pitch after 9/11 and Jimmy Carter putting on a sweater to encourage energy savings and George H.W. Bush signing the Americans with Disabilities Act flanked by two disabled Americans.

MY house just compared Trump's stunt to something you'd have seen on the TV show "Jackass" about 15 years ago...like when they locked someone in an outhouse and dumped it over...

Along with not needing the horses and tear gas, Churchill wasn’t afraid of looking people in the eye.

When in doubt, pout.

President Trump told staffers working on his campaign that he wanted to look 'like [Winston] Churchill' in photographs and images, believing that he would appear tougher according to a new report in The New York Times.

That is why Donnie, like Winnie, reportedly prefers to scowl, squint and maintain a general sourpuss on his face whenever he is in front of a camera.

It also explains why President Trump may have returned the bust of the prime minister to the Oval Office, with the proximity to his own desk allowing him to practice the downcast frown and furrowed brow favored by the former leader of the United Kingdom.

Then Sentence was passed, as followeth, viz. That they should return to the place from whence they came, from thence be drawn to the Common place of Execution upon Hurdles, and there to be Hanged by the Necks, then cut down alive, their Privy-Members cut off, and Bowels taken out to be burned before their Faces, their Heads to be severed from their Bodies, and their Bodies divided into four parts, to be disposed of as the King should think fit

Well, we've seen him toss paper towels at hurricane victims. We've seen him toss a priest out of the church while tear gassing people who were calm (no danger to him.) We've seen him fire people over Twitter because he's too chicken to do it to their faces...he does most things through a third party...I'm surprised he didn't send a proxy to stand in front of the church...

Churchill served in the British Army as a Cavalryman. He was later a war correspondent during the Boer War where was captured by the enemy but later escaped.

Trump missed Vietnam due to bone spurs. He described the New York singles scene as his Vietnam.
