Not only new fencing but concrete barriers are going up around the White House

Tweet with video from Al Jazeer's Chris Sheridan:

The fortification of the White House continues this morning. New fencing and concrete barriers being put up at the Penn/17th street side. This is normally wide open for visitors. ⁦@PoPville #DCProtests

get video/images of all of this. These are images of weakness and cowardice unlike most of us have ever seen in our lifetimes. These images are the epitome of a failed presidency, an unelectable president.

The investigation of Trump's collusion with the Russians is going to be the anchor for political retaliation using the Justice Department. The Republicans are claiming illegal surveillance by administration officials including James Comey, John Brennan, and James Clapper.

Never before has one political party sought to punish members of a previous administration using the power of the Federal Government. Trump will need more than a wall if he goes forward with this plan.

A cowardly little fascist who surrounds himself with military force and a bunker and a wall.

This is a shameful moment in American history. I hope it’s not the end of us.

civilization.

This fortification and circling-the-wagons around centers of power was probably the biggest of those indicators.

Nobody even bothered to remove them after the collapse. We were digging the barricades up hundreds or even thousands of years later.

I wonder what future civilization is going to dig these up and chuckle to themselves that it could never happen to them?

Or even sillier, are they going to put them up on both sides to "help secure the fence"? Because they make great toehold supports or launching platforms to go over a chain link fence, even if someone puts razor wire over the fence.
In effect, those barriers just lowered that fence by about 2 1/2 ft....

2 to 3 foot wide “shelves” that jut out from the bottom of each fence panel. The concrete blocks make it difficult / impossible to tip over the panels. There is an earlier DU post that shows these shelves.

And shorten the actual height of the fence. Watched a skinny short guy get over a similar fence structure in a little more than a second or twoseconds while I was stuck in traffic before the pandemic. Concrete barrier was on the opposite side, just like the picture.
He took a good 20 ft. running start from the shoulder, jumped up high enough to get a foot on the barrier on the other side, then hauled himself over the rest of the 8 ft or so fence with ease because he pushed off the barrier.
Sure, those things can keep protesters from pulling or pushing the fence down, but anyone who's halfway in shape can get over it quickly enough not to be noticed if there's cover on the other side and a crowd to distract the riot police.

still jet-lagged, I walked to a small rise near the center of town that turned out to be the royal palace, complete with king in residence. There were a few guards posted around, and a lot of open park space open to the public. The only restrictions I saw were some signs asking people not to bring charcoal grills for their picnics.

What a contrast to our own Dear Leader, who can not live outside of a tightly-controlled sphere.

(Yeah, I know Scandanavian monarchs aren't the heads of their governments, but the contrast is still telling)

White House and drag his ass out "like a dog," as he would say.

He obviously thinks very little of the Secret Service, and if the American people are as dangerous as he imagines, that little baby fence won't do shit to protect him. I guess we'll find out in November #BunkerBitch!
