Russia to Stop Counting Asymptomatic Coronavirus Cases, Deaths - Health Ministry

Russia will no longer include asymptomatic coronavirus patients in its daily count of new infections and deaths, the Health Ministry said Wednesday.

Russia has confirmed 379,051 coronavirus infections as of Thursday, the world’s third-highest number of cases. Its official death toll of 4,142 is one of the lowest among countries with similarly high cases

“In cases where a person’s death with Covid-19 occurred from an accident or certain other acute diseases, such cases are not considered deaths from Covid-19,” it adds.

Health experts say that asymptomatic transmission of the coronavirus is common and recent studies have suggested a higher share of asymptomatic Covid-19 cases than previously thought. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that as many as 35% of coronavirus cases are asymptomatic and says that asymptomatic carriers are just as infectious as those with symptoms.

(Comment: So if Russia has 100 million asymptomatic people and zero people in the hospital, then they have no Covid-19)

1. Nothing like burying one's head in the sand. I don't personally think that the CV cares either way,

it's still going to infect people, make them sick, or make them die. Whatever they have any underlying causes or not. The fact is that the CV pushed them over the edge and still killed them.

2. Exactly. But they benefit by letting the asymptomatic kids run to their grandparents and kill them

part), I would kind of restrict visits and such, until things do calm down, and that the CV has died down quite a bit. I am thinking about the late fall / winter of this year, eh? My family has already tried to get me to come down and see them, and I said 'are you crazy? during this time w/ the CV raging and stuff?'

My sister awkwardly laughed, I don't think she thought it through very much before proposing the trip to me...

Oh well, some family members aren't realizing the seriousness of this CV outbreak.

8. My point is that if the CV is the primary cause of death, it should counted as such. This is what I

The numbers they were reporting were laughable already.
449,000 cases and <5,400 deaths? Yeah, right.
They sealed their borders and shut down their 3 biggest cities over 5,384 deaths?
They were isolating symptomatic patients in storage closets for a total case load of 3% of the population, including asymptomatic folks?
They were ignoring cases & deaths the whole time.
