Al Sharpton is talking about himself and dropping names which I find annoying.

A bit better now. But I always thought eulogies were about the Loved One. I only hope that this is what the family wanted, because frankly I am about to tune out.

I also am not comfortable with funerals/ memorial services being full of applause. That's just me i guess.

but this is of course about more than George Floyd. It's about 400 years of oppression.

This whole time is just excruciating in so many ways.

In the final analysis I think Sharpton probably helped a lot of people with that sermon. I hope very much that it's a true comfort to George Floyd's family.

28. In some "mainstream" churches they're pretty quiet,

and they don't cheer and applaud because it's not in their tradition. The Episcopal and Lutheran churches I'm used to are responsive but in a less intense way, maybe because of their ethnic origins. The black churches have their own, different style. And it's all good.

12. This one is different. The speeches and applause are perfectly appropriate, I think.

Rev Al and Benjamin Crump had this old white lady just about in tears. Bravo! If I'd been there I'd have been on my feet applauding too.

After Paul Wellstone was killed just before the election, there was a public memorial service in which some of the speakers spoke about Wellstone's issues - and the GOPers had hissy fits about "politicizing" the service. I saw no problem with bringing politics into Wellstone's service and I see none with this one.

35. If I was in charge I'd do without the music; I think it would be more powerful,

but maybe that's some music the family requested. Nine minutes is a long time when you think about what happened in that time.

As this closes out I have to admit it was a lovely tribute to a man who should still be alive.

38. Looks so because this time it's being at home for months

watching thousands of people die from a virus and those numbers would have been avoided with better planning. Then you have three clear assassinations one after the other. Everything has come together at the same time. Further America is fed up of this fake president. He doesn't have a clue.
We can hope.
