This tide is turning

'Our dad said he's learned his lesson and regrets voting for Trump. We got him this shirt and he says he going to wear it until November and only take it off to wash it."

I don't care if they had some sudden epiphany. They knew exactly who and what he was before they voted for him. It's a little late to say "We've been had" and expect to be believed.

They're the reason we're in this mess. If they are truly contrite, we'll know through Biden's victory in November.

Until they pull the lever or check the box with Biden's name next to it, they can save their bad breath, because I don't believe them...

Look, I’m not even saying you’re wrong, but we need to make people feel welcome to be allies against Trump. Even if it’s only temporary.

Try to imagine it from their perspective. Maybe they’re thinking about voting for Biden. But then they see Democrats attacking other Republicans even after they announce support for Biden. That persons initial reaction is going to be, “Well, I guess they don’t want me.”

Now you can say, “People shouldn’t base their vote on how people treat them!” And you might be right, but humans don’t work that way. At least most of them don’t.

Anyway, if my poor opinion of them is going to push them back into the Trump camp, I'm guessing their conversion isn't as solid as you might think.

Some of them will have a true reevaluation of where they are and what they stand for. More power to them. And some of these may decide later to switch back to the other (dark) side. Understood.

But many of them will change allegiances just to suit some purpose. They may appear to be reborn thinking people. But many will still be marching to other's orders.

Don't judge someone by what they profess once or twice. Judge them by how they have voted, lived their lives.

Look, there are many Republican voters that probably won’t vote for a Democrat when Trump isn’t on the ballot.

But don’t you want their vote if it’s getable when Trump is on the ballot?

Sure it would be great if they became long-term Democratic voters. But there’s an aspiring wannabe dictator on the ballot this year. Let’s get rid of him and then we can decide if our new allies are sufficiently woke.

...to the devil in the House of Commons.” - Winston Churchill, 1941.

I hate to disagree, but I rather agree with Churchill's view. Stalin was a terrible man, but frankly, the Russians did far more to destroy Germany than Britain.

If only pure Democrats - the same people who voted for Ms. Clinton - vote for Biden, we'd be in a bad way, wouldn't we?

Churchill confronted Stalin after the war was won.

I've been saying the same for the last 4 years. They wouldn't pull the lever for a woman, they'd never do it for a black man. But Joe Biden, well maybe he's not so bad. He can't be as bad as Trump turned out to be.

This is being said all over the United States between now and November 3rd.

We need every vote on November 3rd, even people who voted for Chump last time. Even people who haven't voted for 20 years, even people who never pay attention and don't really care. We need them all. If Joe can get them, well great! The Democratic Party is a big tent.

I just dont get the vitriol towards those who made the mistake of voting for shithead but are now wanting him gone. We NEED EVERY VOTE WE CAN GET to counter the shenanigans that are sure to come during the election. Being content to have them just stay home and not vote is beyond ludicrous. Some of you act like voting Democrat is some special club that only we who have consistantly voted blue are allowed to be members of. Last time I checked we are sposed to be the party of inclusion. I welcome them all with open arms into the fold for this fight. We can deal with them returning to the GOP after we save our country.

It was a dream of stability under strong leadership. Yes, there was an anger vote-- racists who wanted revenge, the "country" demographic who wanted to own the libs-- all of that seems less important now. Trumpists have a more difficult time with Trump right now. He's doing some very disturbing things, and it's harder to look away.

There was no rational basis for the dream to be sold. The anti-HRC/pro-smart aleck approach in 2016 had no substance. It was overwhelmingly emotional. Trump turned out to be the worst person to be in a position that requires solving problems and forming a coherent national mission.

Now we have death, chaos, and white supremacy vs. health, empathy, and multi-cultural inclusion.

So the voters gave Trump a chance to cheat, and he did. The dream that he sold was a bill of goods. He was never interested in statesmanship, national guidance, or singularity of purpose. In this coming election, he will cheat to win.

I have seriously resentful love for those who helped bring on this catastrophe. I know some who regretted their vote as soon as the children started dying in the border concentration camps. I wasn't impressed one bit that it took such a tragedy to get a few to smell the stale covfefe.
So here's a little fucking gold star for those who have risen one notch above those who will still go vote for chaos with "Welcome to reality" printed on it. We need every Trumpism defector.
I work in hospital healthcare, and I cannot but only shake off when I have to work in a patient's room with Fox Noise blaring. However, if they're snoring away, and I accidently change the channel when I must move that control out of the way...

Totally tied into everything going on. Either right wing or more mainstream like us.

But that is a false dichotomy. Most Americans just live their lives and don’t pay attention to the details.

There are many DU members that used to be republicans or conservatives. Myself included.

If someone who is on the right starts finally paying attention and votes Democratic I welcome them.

We are going to see that in action when Trump loses.
