Protesters Allege Trump, Barr, Esper, and Other Officials Unlawfully Conspired to Violate Their Constitutional Rights
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON Protesters who were attacked with tear gas and other weapons by federal troops in front of the White House Monday evening as they were demonstrating against police brutality sued President Donald Trump, Attorney General William Barr, and numerous other federal officials today for violating their constitutional rights and engaging in an unlawful conspiracy to violate those rights.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Black Lives Matters D.C. and individual protesters today by the American Civil Liberties Union of the District of Columbia, Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and the law firm of Arnold & Porter.
What happened to our members Monday evening, here in the nations capital, was an affront to all our rights, said April Goggans, Core Organizer of Black Lives Matter D.C., the lead plaintiff in the case. The death of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor at the hands of police officers has reignited the rage, pain, and deep sadness our community has suffered for generations. We wont be silenced by tear gas and rubber bullets. Now is our time to be heard.

I'd like to encourage other DUers to do so as well.

and the police say they used smoke but not tear gas smoke.
They said that Trump would be walking through the area soon after and tear gas would have caused a problem.
I hope they have proof it was actually tear gas.

(4,291 posts)8. If this case goes to trial
Id gladly volunteer to serve on the jury.
From four states away, Id even waive any compensation, expense reimbursement, etc.
It would be an honor to serve justice in such an historic case.

(17,530 posts)9. Trump is now claiming
that the people pushed back from the church were terrorist, who were harassing and disrespecting the police. We all know that harassment and disrespect is reserved for law enforcement.....
