Trump's polling numbers are in the toilet (even in places like Ruby Red Texas), and he doesn't seem to be able to himself due to public relations blunders and just a plain ol' inability to lead.
To go on, we have COVID-19 that he has mismanaged, and unemployment is higher than it's been since the Great Depression. Retail closures are at record levels, and it's seems like it's not going to be any better any time soon.
The MAJOR opportunity right now, though, is people. Black people, white people, yellow people, green people , brown people, people...people everywhere. I just turned my television on and looked at a march in Nashville, TN. An ethnicity from every walk of life is in this crowd, and not to sound political (after all, we do have a crisis with the police system), but the BASE of the future of the Democratic party is marching on the streets. Right now.
We see how the Tea Party in Boston brought a Revolutionary War. The latest Tea Party in America brought through a major change, and though it was terrible, it was still a change all the same. Well, THIS revolution is bigger than both of those combined!
Dems need to listen, be seen, show compassion, and offer solid legislation based on the needs of the protesters. If so, we'll win with Black women, we'll win with suburbanites, and we'll even make a dent in the evangelicals and the seniors.
This is our moment and opportunity. With hope, we can ride this wave into a sweeping victory in November.
See you at the Polls!

(31,106 posts)1. use the 12 amendment to force a one elector per state to vote, GOP wins
2. refuse to fund the USPS for voting by mail
3. refuse to certify votes by mail in red states
I could go on...Putin is gonna shut down our internet on election day for absolute certain, if he can...I expect it to all go to hell maybe even before that.
And why?
Well, I cant stop thinking of the ENDLESS complaints that Hillary ONCE gave a speech on Wall sTreet.

(9,090 posts)democrats and the left merely stop ignoring the only advantage the cons have.
with limbaugh dying of cancer the ad industry is going to have to adjust and it needs to be put on notice democrats are finished ignoring talk radio and its going to lose a lot of radio advertisers if they don't start democratizing and breaking up the monopoly
without their talk radio advantage their is no way they're going to be able to sell whatever emergencies they're going to come up with. and they're going to need locally coordinated messaging fox can't do to excuse whatever spitting on the constitution those senators are going to have to do to keep licking trump's royal private parts
the GOP and trump are seriously worried about the real possibility of losing the moral and intellectual leader of the GOP to lung cancer - all americans have to do to get the ad industry to destroy that propaganda monopoly is finally aim some activism at it.

(2,640 posts)We are in uncharted waters, and there are probably countless mechanisms that the GOP could use to declare themselves the winners.
What if Biden wins, and the result is challenged, making it to the Supreme Court?

(3,141 posts)...we have an uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory...
...there is a strength perception that accompanies the Prez job that must not be discounted...love trump or hate him, he's an intuitively skillful politician that will blame all his short-coming and shit on others while claiming none could have done better...
...even today, after years of proven lies and corruption, there's a sizeable group of Americans that believe every word he says...
...if the political winds somehow blow in his favor near election, we may get four more destructive years of turmoil...
...watching TV, I see very little of us touting new programs and policies designed to resurrect the middle-class and the poor while attacking Republicans...25% unemployment, 42 million out of work, are horrific numbers begging to be discussed and addressed...
...just shouting we're not trump might not cut it...
...but then again, I could be wrong...

(945 posts)From the marches and protests, the people are engaged and want leadership. We just need fill spots on the evening news, Sunday Shows, and social media.

(27 posts)2016 Clinton won voters under 40 and Trump won voters over 40. The difference is that voters under 40 made up 36% of the electorate and voters over 40 made up 64% of the electorate. If all that protest energy turns into people under 40 voting and making up even 40% of the electorate, dems can win many states. Biden may not be the more charismatic candidate but he polls well with seniors because he speaks their language. Biden needs to keep giving reasonable speeches.

(2,640 posts)Every Biden "gaffe" will be aired 24/7 by the media in an attempt to be "neutral".
There will also be more bogus Tara-Reade-style accusations.
Any improvement in jobs numbers will be credited to Trump.

(43,057 posts)and we have to keep it that way for 5 more months? I'm of the thought that Trump's numbers have no way to go but up from here. I think it will be modest, and tighten in the fall, but he'll have difficulty breaching 45%. Biden consistently polls greater than 50%.
Democrats should harness the protests with legislative proposals. We will alarm non-protestors if all we do is flood cities for 6 months.

(1,236 posts)It all starts at home and works its way up. That is how the GOP got such a stranglehold on things. We can take it back, and now is the perfect time to start.
