Some people here on DU chastised folks that were calling for a Wendy's boycott because a franchisee CEO donated 400K to Donnie Shit for Brains.
Thankfully, those folks were ignored.
Due to the controversy, Wendy's denounced the donation, not only distancing themselves from this franchisee, but releasing a positive message and a 500K donation of their own.
This is why we CAN'T excuse corporations by saying; "well, it was just a franchisee", or "well sure, the corporation advertises on local Hate Radio, but not during Limbaugh's show"
My bottom line is if you support hate, there is no place to hide.
I don't care if a corporation only advertises during the Saturday Morning Cooking Show. If that station also broadcasts hate and racism for one damn second during the rest of the week... they need to be called out for it.

Wendy's has pledged to donate $500,000 toward supporting "social justice, the youth and education in the Black community" after it recently drew criticism on social media following reports that the CEO of one of its franchisees donated thousands of dollars to President Trump's campaign.
"Our voice would be nothing without Black culture. Right now, a lot of people are hurting because of blatant racism against Black people. Their voices need to be heard. Period. #BlackLivesMatter," the company said in a series of tweets on Wednesday.
"We're about putting our money where our mouth is. So here's our money and here's our mouth," the company continued. "We are committed to donating $500k to support social justice, the youth and education in the Black community starting with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and we'll have receipts."

(15,292 posts)"oh, that guy that donated to Donnie Dollhands and made millions under the Wendy's name? Oh, he was just a franchisee".
Maybe they should require him to change the sign on his restaurants to "Endy's"
