The cops were caught lying about their assualt.
Snip--"A 75-year-old protester was injured Thursday night after being pushed by police as officers cleared Niagara Square as the citywide curfew went into effect.
Following the incident, which drew swift national attention after video of it was viewed millions of times, the Buffalo Police Department suspended two officers without pay and began an Internal Affairs investigation, according to a police official and a department spokesman."
snip--" The man was in serious but stable condition at Erie County Medical Center, Mayor Byron Brown said in a written statement late Thursday night. Friday morning, Poloncarz tweeted that an ECMC official said the man was "alert and oriented."
snip--"Police confirmed about two hours later that they had suspended the officers and had begun an investigation."
4 paragraph rule, much more at source.
At least 15 other cops walked past a bleeding old man, till the Nat'l Guard guy started rendering aid.
And then the PD press statement freaking lied saying he "tripped"
The rot and corrupted souls and systems of current policing are vomitory.

(326 posts)THIS is why people are outraged and protesting. I cant believe that not ONE of those cops had the decency to check on the man immediately, as any normal human being would.
This is disgusting and it shows the reality of everyday police brutality which must be stopped. No uniform should give you the right to terrorize your fellow citizens.

(1,514 posts)I used to live in Cheektowaga, West Seneca, and North Buffalo. What a disgusting display. The shove wasn't even the worst of the whole thing, it was the lack of empathy to render aid or even check on him.

One cop did try to help, but their supervisor (note the badge) pulled them away.

Granted the cops could have swarmed him & beat him with their weapons, so there is that

(5,639 posts)If they would have dialogue with the guy they may have learned something.
But no, just push him down and almost kill him. He most assuredly will never be the same after that blow to the head.

The mission of the Buffalo Police Department is to serve and protect our residents and visitors; uphold the law with integrity, respect, and professionalism while preserving the rights and dignity of all; and maintaining peace by providing for the safety and security of the community.
They might want to work on that a bit.

(15,933 posts)He doesn't even stop to render aid, he just shakes his damn head. WATCH him. He obviously doesn't have elderly people in his life. If he does they need to take him out to the barn for a good thrashing within an inch of his miserable life.

I am going to be interested in the long term follow up of the injured man. Head trauma is a bitch to deal with

If I stuck a broom out as you walked by, you would probably trip over it. But I would still be responsible. In my example, I didnt even touch you, but in this story, they went farther than just placing an obstacle in your path.
Not as serious as deliberately killing someone, but maybe close enough, especially when the victim was elderly.
