He fought for the IDEALS that are represented by that flag.
It is not disrespectful to refuse to stand when the flag is flown while those ideals are applied with prejudiced!
No! The travesty is to fly that banner knowing full well it flies in hypocrisy!

(25,932 posts)I asked a WWII veteran his opinion about burning the flag in protest. He replied that freedom of speech is more important than a piece of cloth. He also said that fire safety is important too, and that he may open a fire hose on a burn if it was getting out of control

(3,647 posts)And people seem to have a stronger affinity for the symbol than for the things the symbol represents. Those who seek flag burning laws, etc, are quite happy to see the ideals fade away. It's pretzel logic.

The flag today is used mostly to support creeping fascism.
