Pierce: This Is the Most Singularly Batsh*t Crazy Thing Any President Has Said Out Loud in Public

This Is the Most Singularly Batsh*t Crazy Thing Any President Has Said Out Loud in Public
25th Amendment now.

BY CHARLES P. PIERCE
JUN 5, 2020

Do it. Do it now. The man is outside his mind.

The president* held a press event Friday morning to tout the fact that unemployment is not as far over 13 percent as people thought it might be. (Hey, you take what you can get, right?) Then he said this, when asked about George Floyd, who was murdered by police in the streets of Minneapolis.

"George is looking down right now and saying ‘this is a great thing happening for our country. It’s great day for him, a great day for everybody. This is a great, great day in terms of equality. It’s really what our Constitution requires and what our country is about.”

This is the most singularly batshit crazy thing any president ever has said out loud in public, at least in my memory. Nixon talked crazy, but only in private, and it took two years worth of lawsuits to pry those recorded comments out of the White House. Reagan was plainly batty, at least throughout his second term, but in public, he still managed to hit his marks, smile, and stay largely on text. But this? Holy mother of god, someone get the net.

Clearly, this morning's nonsensical ramblings from the #IPOTUS represent a new low, but so what? Either later today or tomorrow there will be another even lower than that.
He'll use a Bible, a church, or a murdered citizen as props - all in the last week - just as he has used our military, our flag, and our Constitution before. We should be relieved that our military leaders seemingly have seen through his fascist actions this week.
But, tomorrow is another day and we have a long, long time until November.
It should be clear that this country waning democracy is teetering on the brink of collapse at this point - clear to everyone but the enablers in the Senate, House, Supreme Court, and Cabinet.
We're in for a rough road ahead.

near as kind and heartfelt as George Floyd's was. Trump knows there isn't that much good to say about him. Can you imagine how that hurts a narcissist? He can read twitter and know that people mock him all the time. He knows when he goes people are going to dance in the streets and dance on his grave, and probably piss on his grave.

I think it's a tossup between the 'inject disinfectant' remark and this:

"I don't use insulin. Should I be? Huh? I never thought about it..."

But, the 25th should have been invoked the day he was sworn in, because of all the batshit crazy he spewed during the campaign:

“I know more about ISIS than the generals do. Believe me.” (Said before he was privy to any national intelligence.)

“Part of the problem and part of the reason it takes so long [to kick out protesters] is nobody wants to hurt each other anymore.” (...more salient than ever after last week.)

"The doctor said, ‘Man you have the blood pressure of a great, great, athlete who is 20 years old. 110, I like that, because I like being a great athlete.”

“I will give you everything. … I’m the only one.” (said to a rabid crowd of MAGAts)

“I always wanted to get the Purple Heart."
