Its important to remember that the unemployment rate in May is still a good bit higher than the worst days of the Great Recession. In short, its encouraging

But that the assumption was that it would be too early for the stats to actually show any effect from ending lockdown.
(There's always the metalevel observation of how people view the numbers, too. Many would have preferred doom and gloom, to the extent of denying that the BLS numbers can have any semblance of reality.)
