1. A word of caution

I don't doubt that most of them are legit, but do be wary of ones that are very short and start with a cop doing something without seeing what happens right beforehand. The protests are being infiltrated by aggitators who provoke the cops and then selectively show the parts they want of the encounter to make it look like the cops were acting completely unprovoked. The same is true for some of the videos purporting to show rioting and lawlessness. For example, someone on Twitter took a video of people in DC flooding into the house of the guy who provided shelter to them the other night and claimed that rioters were now targeting private houses.

I'm not saying there have not been horrible incidents of police brutality during these protests, but I am a little wary of short videos that don't show what happened right before the cop started using force. The last thing we need is to undermine the credibility of the cause by inadvertently misconstruing a situation.

That said, most police now in major cities seem to have body cams, or at least they are supposed to. Ideally, if a misleading video comes out, the police department can rebut it with bodycam footage. And if the cop had a body cam but turned it off I have no sympathy if a video of their conduct is misconstrued. Turning off the bodycam itself should be a fireable offense if something goes wrong and they don't have footage.

I've cried tears of sorrow, tears of hope. I've been enraged, amazed, sick with fear, and profoundly moved by the smallest gesture of the good in mankind. It has been a week-plus of the most poignant images of my lifetime. I wonder how a person can feel so much. Is it dangerous?

I tuned in at 7 am to ABC and was surprised at the long montage of videos taken during the protests this week showing brutal conduct by police against peaceful protestors.

Their coverage was very good to inform less political viewers who only watch local ABC affiliates and are usually not as well informed as watchers of CNN and MSNBC.
