New York state will usually go Democratic in a presidential election.
Florida is a swing state.
My daughter's father-in-law has homes on Cape Cod and in Florida.
He's a right winger.
He KNOWS his vote won't matter in liberal Massachusetts, but MIGHT in Florida.

Requirement is thus. All you needed was your Real Estate tax statement,a Utility Bill and registrar to vote in your properties county. Now,here is the tricky part(fraud)if you live in Minnesota and claim such situation and your Employer does not take State Withholding, and if you own Real Estate in Minnesota, you Real Estate Tax Statement is subject to Second Home Status or Recreational Status, meaning you Real Estate Taxes per Valuation may,and usually are assessed at the highest percentage of value.
So,thinking you are going to save a ton of bucks, will you might in the short run, but, chances are when you sell your Minnesota property, you might end up paying all State Payroll Taxes you tried of avoid plus 8% interest back to the filing change of Domicile.

If Florida is their main residence - i.e., if they reside there more than half the year - that's fine. If they reside somewhere else most of the time but vote in Florida - that's iffy. If they vote in both places, well, that's definitely a felony and should be treated as such. And we've seen how Florida traditionally feels about felons voting.
