Yet another HUGE march taking place in Genesee County, Michigan

It is dedicated to George Floyd, and to honor Brianna Taylor's birthday and is being live streamed on Facebook.

It is taking place in the town where I grew up - Grand Blanc - which is a suburb of Flint. It is also where Sheriff Christopher Swanson, from last week's march in Flint Township, went to school.

It is what some would consider to be an upper middle class town (lots of General Motor execs, at one time and now lots of physicians are white collar people who commute to Detroit). When I lived there, the demographics were pretty much 99.% white and that number is still at about 82%.

The march is about as racially diverse as the demographics, and it is HUGE, LOUD and there are lots of car horns being honked in support. They reported hundreds taking part but I think that is a big underestimation. The south bound lanes of Saginaw Street, the main drag, are blocked to traffic and packed with marchers - most of whom ARE wearing masks.

And, there are law enforcement officers marching WITH them.

To see a march this massive, in a town like Grand Blanc, tells me that people are engaged, the tide is indeed turning, and I am once again beaming with pride.
