Uniformed Police are standard issue INSIDE America's schools. That needs to end.

It is a horrible way to solve your attendance & behavior problems. And they have almost always acted in a way that will permanently make students fear & loathe Police.Or of course then there is Biff who wants to join them.

He will get even Biff will.

Seriously-a bad example & a waste of resources.

There were two arguments for it -- first that on-campus police were disruptive to the educational environment, and second that our police department is severely understaffed and police officers shouldn't be wasting their time hanging out in schools when they could be out in the community.

Our police department simply doesn't respond to small stuff. They'll show up for gang shootings, etc., but they are not likely to show up for things like fender benders or shoplifters at Walmart unless the situation turns violent.

I'm often amazed by stories here on DU about people calling the police for small stuff fully expecting the police will show up and somehow solve their problem. And in many communities the police do show up.

I always think long and hard before calling 911 because I've witnessed how the police can make a bad situation worse.
