(62,406 posts)You've summed it up in one, short sentence. This needs to change. Parents need to learn how to raise their sons to be kind, compassionate and human. It's really not that difficult.

(8,716 posts)Heard a talking head whining about the poor police being overworked, multiple shifts, days on end, stressful situations all day, low pay, no appreciation. Well assholes, step into a nurses or doctors shoes in a hospital overtaken with Covid patients. And they are doing everything to save those they are there to protect, and putting their lives on the line to do so. Without proper gear, thanks to gubment. That same gubment give police all the gear in the world, no questions asked. Always plenty of cash for that. And Those medical pros cry when they lose one they are working for. Grow a pair you wimp ass gun huggin high school grads that cant work anywhere else.

Trump has not accused bad cops of anything, even when a cop is caught murdering someone. Nada. Not a word.
Trump adheres to the death force, not the life force. Like many vicious criminals, he lusts after others' pain and the spilling of their blood and would rather turn America into a charnel house than that city on a hill the old Republicans liked to talk about.
Trump is a bag of shit -- literally, if what Noel Casler has said of him is true.

(8,716 posts)The interview Stephanie Miller did with him on her Happy Hour Podcast is a must. Casler lays it out there. A total bag of shit trump is.

(8,716 posts)My daughter is a Trauma nurse. I am terrified of what she is facing daily. Much more deadly situation than what power hungry military industrial equipped bubbas are facing with no oversight and no consequences for deadly actions. The difference is these medical pros have a soul and a heart for fellow humans.

(63,221 posts)complaining, even though they have been treated terribly by the federal government. Thank your daughter for all of us. She is a very brave, strong woman to endure what she has to go through daily. Much more so than these armed cowards who harm innocent civilians and only add to her burden.

(6,446 posts)Cops are thoroughly Unionized with the best contracts nationwide (possible exception is railroad workers). They handily make 2-3x what Nurses make. Whereas Nurses have to battle to form Unions. Hospitals will sometimes SHUT DOWN before they award a contract.

(6,078 posts)I worked in a prison for 6 years and a jail for 3. I've worked in long term care units and mental hospitals in my 30 year career as a nurse. We've managed to restrain very violent men and women, using force when necessary, but have never killed anyone.
Never.

(1,639 posts). . .after some stupid shooting, there was a clip from the old Andy Griffith show. The sheriff explained why he didn't carry a gun. He said something about wanting people to respect the man, not fear the gun.
Mind you, I don't think going unarmed is a workable solution in most law enforcement situations, but it was the mindset that Sheriff Taylor embodied that was so cool.
