What I'd like to know is...

.... how they managed to get a perfect design for the huge "Black Lives Matter" statement on 16th St (Ave?) by 3 in the morning. It looked perfect. Have you ever tried to make a poster? Don't you always run out of room for the last word? Isn't the bottom of your S all scrunched up because the top is too big? Aren't the letters squished in some places and spread out in others? How'd they do that???

spelling out all kinds of "nasty" messages to the prison-bound POS as they march past the presidential reviewing stand. Bands from HBCs will be given prime spots in the parade.

You start by measuring the available space, then determine how many letters are in the phrase you want to write. Each letter has a certain standard width, which you use to spread out the letters on the available space. It's not that hard.

Like anything else in life, pre-planning is the key.

I've done with letter sized paper to make a big sign and have researched (but not actually done it) to "tile" an image for web pages so that different parts of an image can link to different URLs.

With software it is easy, but it can be done effectively in an analog method by hand. In my high school art class way before home computers one student wanted to paint a 4'x8' mural (the largest piece of material he could get was a full sheet of wallboard). He sketched his design on an artist's tablet, divided it into sections, then transferred the sketch to the same layout of sections on the piece of wallboard. He got the proportions right and his project turned out great.

Count all the letters from each line, divide by two, start in the middle...don't make mistakes.
