Reply to deleted post about Buffalo police officers...

Way to victim blame!

The 75-year-old man approached the commanding officer to show him something (looks like riot police helmet in left hand and cell phone in right). It's not clear if the man touched the officer at any point. However, it sure as heck is clear the two officers pushed him away. One officer hesitated and appears to want to render aid, but is stopped by the commanding officer who gets on his radio. PERIOD. No other cop stopped to render aid. They stopped because they waited for commanding officer to command them to go after another peaceful protester. OPEN YOUR EYES!

2. I would say the radio was to call for aid, but that's what it appears.

Either way, total bullshit on the part of the cops.

3. Yes, that was a separate act from why the group of officers stopped behind him. They were waiting...

for his next "command." His next act was to rush toward another peaceful protester (who may have been coming to aid of 75-year-old man). That was enough for the stopped officers to also rush toward the other peaceful protester (i.e., follow suit of their commanding officer).

4. I think the man made a mistake walking up like that, but still didn't warrant shoving.

I also think the hidden post made a valid point that we oversimplify things sometimes, or at least ignore nuances. I think it hurts our case sometimes.

So there is no mistake, not much nuanced about the murder of George Floyd. They are guilty. If on a jury, I might consider mitigating factors for the new recruit who apparently said shouldn’t they turn him over.

7. Yeah, I also think it was foolish for the guy to walk up to a line of police officers like that

He should have waited with the other protestors. The cops would have moved up toward them and if they had pushed him there the other protestors would have caught him.

6. It was an act of pure aggression, meant to show the man who is in charge and force compliance.

There was no attempt to properly evaluate the situation and act appropriately. That's what professional policing is supposed to be about. And it's precisely why everyone is so angry at the police.

Cops behave as if they are at war with the public, and everyone is the enemy. This video clearly demonstrates this violent mindset. It has to change. If cops cannot understand this, they need to find another job.

Here's a frail 75 year old man he's got a phone and helmet in his hands Should they be aware enough that using force of any kind on a frail old man is not likely to end well. I'm sorry I watched it hands at side not rushing them. No threat at all. any defense of that is reprehensible.

14. I can agree with that. The poster made it sound like a number of cops stopped and

would have rendered aid. That's not at all what the video showed. ONE cop bent down toward elderly man and the commanding officer immediately pulled on his sleeve to keep him moving.
