If we had a genuine popular election, then each and every vote would count. As it is, if you're in the minority in your state, too bad. If you're in the majority, why even bother to vote?

If the Electoral College were done away with, then the people running for President would actually have to campaign across the entire country, not just in so called swing states. We wouldn't see bullshit like "The soccer moms in these three states will determine who becomes President." We would all have our vote count.

Whether I live in a Republican or Democratic majority state (and I've lived in both) I often feel there is simply no point in bothering to vote for President. I will always vote down ballot, because those votes are actually counted.
