Seattle protests have turned violent

Not sure what went wrong, but the police told demonstrators to disperse. They are using a ton of flash bangs and tear gas.

https://www.twitch.tv/woke

This protest location has been peaceful for around 5 days.

I looked around a bit. It seems that either protesters were too close to the barricade or knocked it over. I don't know if that happened violently or accidentally.

Video of the attack. You can't see what set it off.

It's near the police/protest line. You see them occasionally on the bottom of the video.

The line of protestors at 11th and Pine has been consistently substantial and peaceful.

According to one livestream, they used flash bangs and pepper spray to clear what was a likely peaceful crowd.

Stepped away from the feeds for like ten minutes and come back to the area having been cleared-out. Signs and umbrellas strewn everywhere.

Am overwhelmed with anger. There are too many officers? soldiers of some unknown stripe? at that intersection. This is an unacceptable display of militarized policing.

This should not be happening in America. Cops are out of control.

Cops asked them to back up. There was nowhere to back up because of the crowd, so the cops attacked.

People have been calling these barricades "sacred fences" because trouble starts if the cops think protesters are mishandling them.

Sigh. Smh. So, the crowd tested the barricade and this resulted in hundreds of swarming cops and green men firing on the crowd. Gross display that’ll make things worse.

They totally suck at crowd control.

They cause problems instead of solving them.

Unless the Gov. of Washington State requested them, which hasn't happened, then those are not active duty troops.

There is nothing in the news about Federal Troops being deployed to Seattle for riot control, the Mango Menace cannot unilaterally send Federal Troops to states that haven't requested them.

they're National Guard units that would be attached to the 2nd ID in the event of being Federalized, so they're authorized to wear the patch.

But, I didn’t grab the image in time. Seems like their uniforms are brighter than the other day (hence, why I was thinking it could be another contingent than guardsmen from before).

I’m not wanting to misidentify - just want to confirm which group is doing what.

Thanks for clarifying and reiterating.
