Good policemen understand they are our servants, charged to protect and serve

I've been getting the argument that police kneeling makes them look weak and subservient.

I tell those making such an argument to stop putting down the good police. That's the way it's supposed to be. When the system works they are subservient to the citizens of their communities. We The People are ultimately their boss. That's how we keep from having a police state.

The police exist to protect and serve. That is their job. They don't get to decide who they protect and serve, or to show favoritism. They are charged with protecting their communities, whether those they serve are black, white, red or whatever. They are not judges, juries, nor executioners. Believe it or not, the police are even supposed to protect criminals.

Police kneeling in support of the protesters are not weak at all. They are the strong ones that know what being in law enforcement should be all about.

My son in law and his brother are among the large numbers of good cops, and have been attacked with bricks.

(even 4-year-old Joshua DeShaney) from physical violence or harm from another person (his father) did not breach any substantive constitutional duty,' HOWEVER would likely breach contractual duties, obligations under their employment contracts.

The ruling is often cited by gun-strokers to promote more gunz. The ruling is BS as far as the context of the OP.

I did that the other day, here in Frederick, Maryland. There was a demonstration about George Floyd, and all the police were just standing around smiling, relaxed, and friendly. They were obviously tall and strong and able to to fight if necessary, but they were being genuinely nice. I might add that the Frederick police have always seemed professional and self-controlled and friendly, since I moved here several years ago. I went up to two of them and thanked them. I told them it means a lot for them to be that way.

I don't know, I don't like that. We are all equals, they just have a different job.

My grandfather was sheriff of a community for many years. Never carried a gun. And, he was in Alabama.
