1. But not Trump. He is notable as a world leader who can hardly speak English at all. nt

4. I have a couple of personal anecdotes with language
I have a German friend who met a Hungarian through school and became friends. they communicate in English as niether speaks the other's native language. The German also speaks a little French and Spanish, the Hungarian speaks Italian (and lives there).
when I was young, my family traveled around the north Pacific for a year. my Father had a suit made while we were in Taiwan. they did the transaction and communication in Spanish since the tailor didn't speak English and my Father didn't speak Chinese. I love to go places and hear lots of languages, but I suck at them. I can get by in Northern Mexico where people tend to speak slower but my Spanish isn't really very good. |
