It helps when THEIR people come out. All of it helps. Take it. Accept it.
It's not accepting what we disagree. It's accepting what we agree on - trump must be stopped. Period.
Accept that they at least, understand this.
Yes, they can do more. Absolutely. Yes, W was horrific as president and we are still paying for it today and will for years to come.
Romney would dismantle Social Security if he could.
That's not what this is about.
This is about defeating trump.

(19,564 posts)Think. He's never going to anything you, or I want him to be. That's simply unrealistic on our parts. What he's doing now is helpful to save our democracy. Then, if he and his are successful, we can all live to disagree again another day.
Trump's regime is truly dangerous to all who believe in our founding fathers premises. We don't actually have to agree on implementation of acts to see how far off the tracks we all are right this moment.

(12,712 posts)Withdrawing cooperation is a powerful tool if you want to defeat a despot.
I thank and celebrate those, right now, who are willing to cut the tyrant off at the he pass by asserting themselves and signaling that they won't be complicit with someone who is a real threat to this country. We should put aside our differences and disagreements to focus on this one, powerful tool. Save them for later when we are out of harms way. Right now they are a luxury and accomplish very little.
Hats off to them and thanks!
May MORE true patriots come to the aid of their county in it's greatest need.

(47,552 posts)Far as I'm concerned they're two war criminals and and a vulture capitalist. (W, Powell, and Romney.)
I don't trust them as far as I can spit.
But they're heavy hitters from the other side and I'm glad they're hitting heavy right now when the country needs it.
We can't survive another four years of this.

(62,530 posts)why should I even give them an ounce of benefit when they all so thoroughly screwed this nation with wars based on lies, killing thousands of Iraqi and Afghanistani people not to mention our soldiers who died for that lie, black site tortures and the patriot act.
shall I go on?
there are plenty of other right wing nuts who aren't so damn guilty as they are that can lend a voice against the orange asshole. I prefer not to give any credence to anything war criminals say or do.
That's why.

(62,530 posts)you are okay with giving war criminals a voice?
if anyone here in DU says it's okay to allow these pieces of shit a voice here on this site, please speak up.
Because they last time I checked george w moron* and his room full of dopes got in illegally because the supreme court violated the constitution and appointed him prez.
And if you are a-okay with the moron* creating a war on lies just to resolve his daddy issues, please speak up
And if you are okay with black site renditions for "enemy combatants" (a sick turn of phrase for prisoners of war) that allowed the to commit the war crime of torture, please, by all means, speak up.
again, shall i go on?
their words are worthless, less than worthless. we should not be giving them any fucking credit because it was they that lit the fuse to the bomb that is going off in our country today.

(19,564 posts)I dislike most (probably all) of his stances, but he's not trying to bring on a race war, nor is he looking to dismantle the very system of our democracy.
I warned people this was where we were headed in 2016 and 2017 on here. But those who insisted on seeing things through their narrow (propaganda enhanced) lenses rebuffed my thoughts at that time. As was their right, but history shows I wasn't wrong.
We are in a deeply dark place now. Our only recourse is to freaking vote these people out and put in Democrats by a vast majority in November. If not 2021 will make 2020 look like a cakewalk in comparison.
It's in the hands of the people to fix the disaster we're currently in, and I'm not yet convinced we're wise enough to figure that out and save ourselves. Time will tell, of course, but I've been disappointed before by us as a collective.
