And reading word for word off a cue card or a teleprompter makes your eyes move robotically.

Someone wrote this for her and she didn't even bother to learn it very well. That's why her eyes scan while she's speaking. People pick up on the falsehood of it since she's not "nailing the lens". They teach professional speakers how to do that. Good presenters can do it on a cold-read, otherwise you practice what you're going to say so you can land important phrases right to camera - ie "nail the lens".

Shifty eyes is the worst thing to see when someone is allegedly speaking their own words from the heart.

It's okay for your eyes to scan a bit, especially for people like newscasters, but you "lift" lines - you refer to the script as a prompt and say the whole thing/thought/idea into the lens without your eyes shifting along the words. Otherwise it's painfully obvious to the audience that the speaker is not seeing you.

Ivanka Trump condemns 'cancel culture' after WSU Tech cancels her commencement speech

JUNE 05, 2020

Ivanka Trump called Wichita State University and WSU Tech's decision to cancel her commencement speech "antithetical to academia" after the schools canceled her speech amid criticism of the White House's response to protests against racist policing.

WSU Tech, a Wichita State-affiliated technical training school, announced Thursday that Trump would deliver a commencement speech to graduates Saturday afternoon during a virtual graduation ceremony for the school's 750-plus graduates. After backlash from Wichita State faculty, students and alumni, the two institutions released a joint statement late Thursday canceling Trump's speech.

Trump released her commencement speech, which she said was recorded on May 18, on YouTube and shared it to her 8.9 million Twitter followers on Friday evening. In a written statement, she encouraged students to "dream big and aspire to make the world a better place" and condemned the decision to cancel her address to graduates.

Her teeth bother me. They look inflated. Veneers too thick, I guess. They are NOT normal. They're gotta be FAKE. I've never seen real teeth that looked like that, and I used to cover Hollywood, so I saw all kinds of "work."

She's quite the plastic girl.

The only problem with that, Ivanka dear, it doesn't last. Once you start down that road, you're stuck on it for the rest of your life. You'll have upkeep to worry about. You're going to have to start tweaking. Getting little touch-ups. Every few months when the Botox fades, when you have to start having nips 'n' tucks taken. And then those little tweaks will start getting bigger, because gravity gets stronger with age, and pulls harder. Eye jobs. Neck job. Chin/jaw line "fix." Fillers and other injectables. You can get away with it for awhile, as long as you're young, or young-ish. But in your 40s and 50s it's gonna start becoming a problem you have to keep up with, and stay on top of. If you insist in keeping a high profile in the media and pop culture, that is.

When I was working, the American Film Institute held a yearly event where some very prominent Hollywood figure was honored with a lifetime achievement award. The AFI tribute always brought out "old Hollywood." Like Cyd Charisse and Tony Martin, Walter and Carol Matthau, Kirk Douglas and his wife, senior members of the Hollywood elite. Frankly sometimes one would go in order to get tape with some of these elder statesfolk, and bank it for when they died. If you had obtained a choice quote from one of these folks, by Jove you'd dig it out and use it! Carol Matthau by then, bless her heart, was an absolute gargoyle. It was a shame, considering how attractive a woman she was in her heyday. But she'd had so much work done on her face over the years that, toward the end, she actually had no face. It had been pulled almost flat. She was nearly unrecognizable, to the point of being actually rather horrifying! The only thing I could imagine that would be worse would be having to live behind that face and wake up to it in the mirror every morning. One actually felt sorry for her.

It was at events like these that helped me make up my mind - I will NEVER have any "work done." And it gets ferociously expensive if you decide you must climb onboard that train-to-nowhere. You have to have ungodly amounts of money in the bank! I decided long ago to just let myself age, because, c'mon - seriously, who am I kidding? Besides, it's a heckuva lot cheaper.
