Someone finally found Forrest Fenn's hidden treasure

SANTA FE, N.M. -- Famed art and antiquities collector Forrest Fenn, who hid $1 million in treasure in the Rocky Mountain wilderness a decade ago, said Sunday that the chest of goods has been found.

Fenn, 89, told the Santa Fe New Mexican that a treasure hunter located the chest a few days ago.

"The guy who found it does not want his name mentioned. He's from back East," Fenn said, adding that it was confirmed from a photograph the man sent him. Fenn did not reveal exactly where it had been hidden.

Fenn posted clues to the treasure's whereabouts online and in a 24-line poem that was published in his 2010 autobiography "The Thrill of the Chase."

I guess Geocaching is the next best thing, but when it is treasure, it is just so much better.

Because I don't think it ever existed in the first place. Just a quick way to make some dough.

Fenn was getting pressure from law enforcement, lawyers, etc. So he finally threw in the towel.

I could be wrong....but the onus is on him.

happenstance as he roamed on or off a trail??? Just because he came from back East doesn't negate the possibility of serendipity. I guess a Congrats is in order!

He's lying.

Too much heat from authorities over this, so he "ended" the hunt for something that never existed.

he is working with the winner on that, along with some of the others who searched for months or years and didn't find it. I'm sure many got close, I think he even admitted that someone was within 100 feet of it at one time but they never found it. Also would love see a pic of that treasure chest and someone's lucky haul!
