I want to get out ahead of this. The polls will narrow the closer we get to the election. In fact, Biden's national lead in the average of polls may be within the margin of error.
The election will be decided in the 6, or so, swing states. Watch those state polls, esp. in the last two weeks.

(2,580 posts)not because he deserves it but because a runaway election is bad for the media biz. A close race promotes ad spending.

(22,669 posts)It won't matter what the polls say, I'm going to be working my ass off trying to convince reluctant voters to do their civic duty and make the small sacrifice, taking time out of their day, one day, to vote.
You can watch the polls.

(68,556 posts)primary. I don't doubt they will vote for him in the election but the doom and gloom all of the time is exhausting. I am not referring to you. I don't remember who you supported...just a general comment.

Trump's white cult will redouble their support.

(68,556 posts)recovery. Everyday brings news of jobs lost permanently. Trump is going to lose. I wish some would stop with the doom and gloom as it only depresses turnout. Trump has killed over 110,000 Americans and by November it could be a half a million or more. He won't win.

(68,556 posts)We have a pandemic, depression level unemployment and civil unrest. You have to look at the reality of our situation. This is not 2016 where things were better most places after 08...it is a fucking disaster.

(35,438 posts)There's nothing that anybody can do about it. The polls will narrow as we move closer to election day, and I didn't want people getting negative about it.

(7,519 posts)I don't like to use the term tribal so I'll just say in-group-out-group behavior. Most repubs talk about being "Christian" or "conservative" or "pro-choice" or whatever rationale they use to justify the unjustifiable. It all comes down to their "group" as they see it and logic, consistency, morality don't matter for 90 percent of them, no matter what they say. Expect drumpf to get his 45 percent in November. Democrats have to expect that will happen again.

Also, Barr plans a full-on assault in the late summer/fall. Durham's report will come out, and Barr will be looking to prosecute, and will no doubt throw down some indictments. Lindsey Graham will do everything he can to help that as well.
The Hunter Biden thing has fizzled since Ukraine has said there is no evidence of wrongdoing, but you can bet that will not satisfy Giuliani and he'll make a bunch of salacious claims.
None of this is intended to convince you and me, of course. This is mostly about getting back the folks who can't stomach what is going on NOW, but are looking for an excuse to say that at least Trump isn't as bad as INSERT NAME HERE.
Hopefully, he's genuinely lost enough people to mean he still loses.
