On this date in 1953, a F-5 tornado flattened the Flint, MI Beecher neighborhood

My mother was 9 months pregnant with me, and went into labor as the tornado alerts were being issued. I entered the world a few hours later, at about 2am on June 9, born at the Flint Osteopathic Hospital. My Dad wasn't able to be one of those pacing expectant fathers, in the waiting room, because he had been recruited to help in the triage area, outside of the hospital. He told me about the experience. It was horrifying. 116 people were killed and 844 injured. I think it is still in the top ten list of most deadly tornadoes.
