That Mr. Biden has gone over from courting police unions to solidarity with protests against police brutality is a measure of how far the country's opinion has changed on the subject over the last quarter century. That Mr. Biden aligns with this sea-change in sentiment is the corner-stone of his campaign --- when all is said and done, Mr. Biden is a political professional of the 'Where are the people? I must hurry there and lead them!' sort. Police unions are a good enemy to have at the present moment, and loss of their support is a benefit.
