Tom Cotton: why doesn't this p.o.s. have a Democratic challenger?

From a Washington Post piece on the fallout from his NYT op-ed:

"In interviews and through his Twitter account, Cotton has made it clear that he is enjoying the fallout from his Times piece. His campaign coffers have also benefited, with his raising roughly $200,000 since the op-ed controversy for a reelection race this fall in which he has no Democratic challenger."

It would be a long shot, but they couldn't find one Democrat to run for the seat? The only way to guarantee a Democratic loss is to not even compete.

2. Because it would be a disaster

First there is a good chance that it would be some screwball running a vanity campaign which could be used to make Democrats look bad.
Or
It could be an up and comer whose future resume would be damaged by losing to Cotton

The way to do it would be to start grooming a legitimate opponent after this election for the next election. That way you could have a legitimate chance of winning

Grooming a candidate was 2012 when Cotton took the seat from a Democratic Senator

is the only democrat in recent history to win a statewide election. Both Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor lost in their most recent reelections to the scummiest of republicans. Go figure.

The tables have turned. When I was young (1970's), most offices were Democrats with the exception of J.P. Hammerschmidt. You had to vote in the Democratic primary in order to vote for mist offices, since the Democrat often ran unopposed in the general election.

I can't speak to the republican success. As far as I can tell, Arkansas is pretty liberal for a southern state, but there are a ton of republicans living here and plenty of racists.

If you think cotton is bad, wait until you get a load of Jason Rapert. Thanks to him, we have a ten commandments monument on state property. No thanks to him, we have medicinal marijuana (he thinks "Reefer Madness" is a documentary.)

Harrison, AR is the KKK haven. Tries hard to say that this is history but IT IS NOT.

Lived in southern MO. The racism is as thick as blood. Republicans are thick. Republicans are racist.

In 2016, in Springfield MO there weren’t Democratic candidates either. 2016 is when MO went ALL majority R in Sate House, Senate and Gov Mansion. Its hard to be a lefty in either state. Many, like myself, have had to Or chose to move on.

I chose the left coast and there are still plenty of RW assholes here too. Fuck

Especially in state legislatures.

How it was allowed to get this way is a whole other story.

Held by Mark Pryor for 12 years.

We essentially gave the seat away in 2014. Pryor was deem one of those Democrats we don't need in the party. He had not voted to continue the AWB and somehow it was felt it would be better to let Cotton take the seat than to support Pryor.
