The Expendable American;

I volunteered for the Army in 1978. I quickly learned my M-16 was classified as a non-expendable item. I was classified as
expendable. I did not agree with this.

After I was honorable discharged I went to work. I have been working for over forty years. During that time I witnessed the employers of America treat their workers as expendable. Bosses treated the employees as expendable. Government employees who do very important work, are considered expendable. Government workers who have a good union, good protections , are subjected to a vile, disgusting form of attack from the people who consider them expendable. They can't fire the person for no good reason, so they eliminate, move their job far away. It is disgusting. This has happened to postal workers, it has happened to government scientists.

During my lifetime I have witnessed African Americans, Latino's, Muslims, all workers, immigrants treated as expendable. In America the only thing considered non-expendable is the stock market, corporations and the rich.

Until that changes, America will never be fair or just. The American people must change the culture, system and say, we are not expendable.

I wear a T-shirt that says, I am not expendable.
