Of course there are sociopaths who attain fame and power, but how can our citizens be so stupid as to keep this one in power? Afer all the blunders and failures and lying and economic cratering, they STILL will keep their maga signs and hats and tshirts and rallies.
THAT's what's so sad.

By the way, I have yet to see any Biden yard signs.

(7,947 posts)She pulled out a MAGA hat and held it out to me. She was grinning sort of tauntingly. I said I'd go bareheaded.
She was so proud of that hat and that she might get me to put it on.

At the very least, we have to find a way to have a voice promoting our vision for the nation. Too many people can't find it, or don't believe it.

(12,712 posts)Those who support and vote for him are looking at a reflection and that's their responsibility. They find a pathetic confirmation for the deeply set biases they hold, some wittingly, some out of pure ignorance of who and what they are.
Biases are transparent to the wearer like colored glasses that, if worn for a while, are acclimatized to and go unnoticed.
Know thyself still applies.

(2,336 posts)things are drastically different. For one thing, there is no detested other candidate. People love Biden. Not everyone, of course, but for the most part because he's a good, decent man. He's not a psychopath.
There is simply no math that gives tRump the win this time. None. He has done everything in his power to lose voters that did vote for him; nothing to try to win new voters. He's trashed the US in the eyes of the world. He will not win. Period.

(14,565 posts)Trump is in the most favorable scenario in American politics, as an incumbent whose party has been in power only one term. Only Jimmy Carter has lost in that situation in more than a century. The benefit of a doubt is extraordinary.
It shapes up like this: We cannot defeat Donald Trump. He can only lose it himself. I am always pessimistic in this scenario. I make no apologies about that. This time I am intentionally not pay much attention at all, while hoping Trump continues to blow it just enough to lose a squeaker election. There is no such thing as a Biden landslide. If we win it will be the 2016 electoral map again except Biden winning the states Hillary narrowly lost.
Maybe some chance in Florida, Arizona and North Carolina. But as I mentioned I'm not paying attention to state polls or anything else. It's not worth it. I hate waking up to anything Trump said or did. I just want to get to election night and learn that Donald Trump did indeed blow it.
