Trump Detached: "It's More Than Just A Tweet"

THE CHASM BETWEEN THE PRESIDENT and pretty much everyone else in Washington is growing, as DONALD TRUMP seems more alone and isolated with his thoughts, and detached from the overall political conversation in the Capitol, and the rest of America.

ON CAPITOL HILL, the president’s party is beginning to rally around some overhaul of the laws governing police conduct. Top lawmakers like Sens. JOHN CORNYN of Texas, MITT ROMNEY of Utah and TIM SCOTT of South Carolina are busy working up a police reform plan. House Democrats are almost ready to pass their own sweeping package.

BUT IN THE WHITE HOUSE, the president is busy broadcasting a conspiracy theory that people find so alarmingly baseless and in poor taste that the party’s top lawmakers are treating it like it’s the physical manifestation of the coronavirus itself.

THE THEORY -- that a 75-year-old man shoved by police amid protests in Buffalo was a violent antifa foot soldier -- is so zany that Republican senators not only find no need to comment on it, but are refusing to physically view the tweet in public. Gone are the days when lawmakers twisted themselves in pretzels to defend the president. Now they just move on, as if he hardly exists at all.

BURGESS EVERETT -- our senior reporter who covers the Senate -- has the tweet printed out, and senators are treating it as if it’s a bar of radioactive substance, refusing to read it in the presence of other human beings, and certainly declining comment on it.

He's PSYCHOTIC. That means that he's detached from reality. His behavior pattern says it all.

His "base" and the GOP play around with Trump's "relevancy", but there is ONLY an appearance that Trump is politically coherent because his interests coincidentally run parallel with the agenda of the GOP and other fascist groups. Trumpy's motivations for acting within his position are completely divorced from reality. That he hasn't started pushing buttons on the black box is a miracle, but it's a temporary miracle. He could go batshit with the nukes at any time, any day, with little or no warning. There are maybe one or two or three people who stand in the way of a nuclear attack initiated by Trumpy. That's it, and that's why he's a national security risk.

Part of me wants his ass canned immediately. Another part of me thinks he's some kind of manchurian candidate, bent on destroying the Republican party from within. These kind of baseless smears have been propagated on radio and later on FOX for 2 generations now. For many, these messages are are as real and genuine as their preacher's. Is it any wonder that Trump, who speaks their language, is now their hero? Is it any wonder that so many millions of Americans can so easily be led astray? He's telling them, not what they want to hear, but what they've heard their entire lives.

Stick a dagger in the heart of right wing hate radio, wait a couple generations, and maybe America will rise above its current status as a deeply flawed democracy on its way down the crapper.

Donald Trump has become its personification -- the Frankenstein monster created in the laboratory of rightwing propaganda which serves the malefactors of great wealth and power.

Perhaps this monster will finally kill its maker. The future of our country depends on it.
