Dayton, Ohio and the dreaded arnot.

From the Dayton Daily News: Coronavirus: Data for Dayton region shows possible increase in cases, DeWine says

Gov. Mike DeWine said he’s looking into new numbers that show a possible increase of coronavirus in the Dayton area.

The region’s arnot number, which measures how many people an infected person is spreading the virus to, is showing a slight increase.

DeWine and Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton previously said the arnot number was part of the data they were keeping an eye on as the state continues to reopen.

Ohio’s arnot number has been below one, meaning that a person with coronavirus is spreading it to less than one person on average.

Sorry... I couldn't resist. BTW, an arnot is defined as "the earthnut" c. 1913 - the year of the Great Dayton Flood. Here's hoping it's not a portent of things to come.

Perhaps it expains why Dayton's R0 is going up.

I've been complaining about the no-mask and non-distancing fools around here for awhile, at least in my suburb.

I'm out of transportation for up to a month - since the parts are on back order.

Helps my conviction to mostly stay home.

I haven't bought gas since the first week of March - which tells you how much I've been out. (My normal gas purchase is every other week.) I live with both my adult daughter and spouse - each of us has a car. There have been a few times when none of the cars have been home - but typically at least one car is hanging out here.

If it had to happen, this was a good time.

... after last doing it in early March for me too!

So I haven't ventured out too much to see if other suburbs of Dayton are being more responsible. Mostly been puttering around in my city for little errands, and a little people-watching. Lol.

and that included employees. I went the arrow wine and spirits and EVERYONE had masks on. I think I’ll be making more trips to the liquor store than the home repair store. 🍺🍺🍺.

At the liquor store, that was in Kettering/Oakwood. I’m going to keep my business there, rather than the drive through. At least Arrow is taking this seriously.

... people, since their public schools are always well-rated. And surely many medical doctors live in that area.

So that's a relief to read!

Glad that you're doing your part!

I know that is how to pronounce it, but there is no meaning to be derived from the phonetic spelling.
