(4,237 posts)by the disenfranchisement, and by the facts coming out.
How are mail in ballots handled? When are they recorded/counted?
By early, do you mean I can go in on a day earlier than "voting day"?

(33,236 posts)NBC reported that many voters requested absentee ballots, did not receive them in time to return them, and then were denied the ability to vote in person because they had requested ballots.

(61,690 posts)Requested ballots not mailed out, disenfranchisement at the polls.
BTW, everyone needs to be certain that they are on the rolls when they request a ballot.

(54,770 posts)Do yo know which party runs those counties?
Its time we stop promising to do better, and just do better. Im voting for Democrats no matter what, but its time to up our game and stop whining.

(58,785 posts)first set of ballots was invalidated, even though I returned the second absentee ballot request form (unrequested, sent to all who had voted the first time) as soon as it arrived and later followed up 3 times when my husband's arrived but mine didn't. I'm registered Democrat, he's liberal also but registered Repub.
I was so ticked I (very) briefly considered driving 800 miles to vote in person, but there just was nothing on my district's primary ballot to justify it with Biden and otherwise a long list of corrupt, betraying Republicans all shoo-ins. And now it turns out I would have been blocked from voting in person?!
The registrar's office in our county was pretty clean in the 2018 election. I'm going to have to chat with our party office to see what they think. We'll be home in the fall no matter what and will vote early.

(15,058 posts)$150 million new voting machines are inoperable.
By screwing up in-person voting like this, they will end up encouraging everyone to sign up for VBM (if they can).

(25,950 posts)I often wonder if the people setting up the machines are the problem, rather than the machines themselves. By that I mean just getting them to function, not that I like the machines. I vastly preferred the punch cards we used to have.
Closing huge numbers of polling places, especially in areas where the majority of voters are black, is just way beyond wrong though. It's obvious we still need VRA protections here because bigots will bigot if you let them.

(25,950 posts)Great portions of GA seem to get screwed over by voting problems every time a presidential vote comes around -- or, in the case of Kemp, gubernatorial. Ugh.

(54,770 posts)The main problem today, occurred in counties run by Democrats.
We can, and need to, do better. In any event, Im voting for Dems, but still. . . . . .
