The day after George Floyd died, cops killed 9 people. More than 49 people in 2 weeks.

Tremendous media attention is on George Floyd but they’ve only briefly discussed the deaths of Dion Johnson (sleeping in a parked car), Brionna Taylor (no knock warrant), David McAtee (cooking barbecue in a crowd).
But there’s also 22 year old Sean Monterrosa (on his knees with hands up), unnamed person (did not lower his high beams), 24 year old Kamal Flowers (rider in a car with traffic infractions who was shot while running away from cops in an unmarked car with no dash cam and no body cameras). An unnamed person in Watertown Wisconsin (on edit: Thomas Sutherlin, age 42) with a broken taillight (and allegedly, a gun). A 61 year old real estate agent and resident of Ponte Vedra had a single car accident, and the cop that stopped to check on him ended up killing him for unclear reasons. Modesto Reyes in Louisiana who had an unnamed traffic violation (and allegedly, a gun, or a cellphone in his hands, depending on who you believe). A foreigner from Gambia, Momodou Lamin Sisay, son of a retired diplomat, with a ”vehicle tag violation”. He supposedly fired at the cops in Livonia Georgia — a town close to Stone Mountain where all those confederate generals are carved. After all the other RECENT cases where the cops lied and video proved it, why should we ever assume that they are telling the truth?
Here’s a list from a website that tracks them. Strangely, George Floyd isn’t even on this list.
The last column on the right has links to news stories, the second to last column shows the “alleged” weapon, of any. Knife, Gun, Unarmed, Vehicle...
The original sin: if we had functional policing with common sense and some smarts, police would have banded together DECADES AGO for sensible gun regulations to make their jobs less fearful for citizens and cops alike. Instead, they mostly stayed silent or else supported NRA. And instead, cop killings at a rate of three per day are just normal in America.
Because we Americans just CARE about each other so much. Such pragmatic, sensible people.
