I started reposting on that board after taking a break for a couple of years due to some hides including a bogus hide for commercial spam. Upon return, I was immediately targeted by the idiots on that board and drew three hides for commercial spam for posting articles from the Washington Post, the NYT, the WSJ, Politico and other publications. The morons on DI were abusing the commercial spam alert to alert articles that they disagreed with or articles that had too many big words. Commercial Spam was defined in the terms of service to be material in which one had an interest and I do not have in interest in the publications that were the subject to these hides. I was also on two or three juries for commercial spam alerts for posts that were clearly not commercial spam. Again the idiots on DI used this objection for any article that they disagreed with or which had too many big words.
I appealed these hides and sent an email to the admins on the abuse of the commercial spam alert. After I learned that that DI was closing I made a few more posts and drew a 5th hide and saw that my account was suspended pending review. Rachel Maddow was coming on and so I watched Rachel before appealing. After watching Rachel and playing with my puppy, I came back to see that I was to be on a jury for a post on a thread that was gloating that my account was suspended. All three of my appeals on commercial spam hides were granted. In addition I was doxed on that thread and the admins had hidden that post and PPR the poster while I was watching the Maddow show. I never saw the post in question but the conservatives gloated about it and I drew some sad but amusing posts accruing me of being responsible for the PPR of that poster.
The conservatives on DI were out of control and I am glad that the admins ended that board. There were idiots on that board who were convinced that trump was going to get 500 electoral votes in the electoral college and that trump was going to get 40% of the African American vote. There were a ton of posts on Obamagate (which they claim was the biggest thing since Watergate) and Anti-fa (despite the fact that there was no evidence in the real world that there was any organization to Anti-Fa). There were a ton of posts about James O'Keefe and some video on Antifa that was clearly faked (a closed Seattle bookstore was evidently the world wide headquarters of Antifa according to O'Keefe) The idiots on that board were convinced that no tear gas was used for trump's photo op and there were some amusing threads before these posters finally gave up after the Washington Post's great video time line that showed police putting on gas masks and being warned about the use of tear gas. There were some truly amusing posters who were clueless about the real world. I also loved the concept that it was not trump's job to unify the country because trump was only the president of his base.
I suspect that the abuse of the commercial spam alert may have played a role in the admins decision to close DI. The idiots who abused the commercial spam alert may have caused the Admins to look at that board and decide to close it. Again commercial spam does not mean articles that a poster disagree with or articles that contains too many big words.
