GOP Expects to Move Convention to Jacksonville
June 10, 2020 at 6:53 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 75 Comments

Washington Post: “Seeking a city willing to allow a large-scale event amid the coronavirus pandemic, Republicans have tentatively settled on Jacksonville, Fla., as the new destination for the premier festivities of the Republican National Convention in August.”

“The details of the arrangement are still in flux and RNC aides are scrambling to determine whether the northern Florida city has enough hotel rooms to accommodate the quadrennial event, which typically kicks off the final stretch of the presidential campaign. Republican officials were in Jacksonville on Monday looking at the city and the surrounding areas.”

Willingly. Ignorantly. Stupidly. We'll see how many participants are around in November to vote for Trump.

What I want to know is, will the speakers wear masks?

When the Republicans get together for their Trumpian circle-jerk, it'll be fun to see how many delegates wear masks (or not). After all, their Dear Leader says the masks are unnecessary. Ah, the hypocrisy.

Then it'll be a blast to hear their speeches with their complete lack of facts. Trump's coronation will be comical and provide mocking hysterics for years to come. It will exceed anything Mel Brooks could conceive, I'm sure!

But the real fun will start a couple of weeks later when all those delegates return home. Statistically, there will be a significant number of them infected with Covid-19. Let's see how many of them make it the November elections.

Too bad for the folks in Jacksonville.

Here’s an idea they might like, PJ ... quarantine them at Mar a Lago. Surely no Republican would object to that! Throw in a free round of golf or two. (although I hear there are no freebies on cart rentals).

at the last moment to attend. I look forward to a 1/4 filled arena. I'll bet social distancing will be mandated to disguise the impact of no-shows.

in Puerto Rico?

Remarkably, just one Category 5 hurricane has made landfall in Puerto Rico since 1851 — the San Felipe Segundo hurricane in 1928.

We just had a tropical storm and then a series of storms this morning that are causing flooding where the tropical storm didn't. Go figure!

Sorry, Floridians. I know you have suffered enough already.
