Why is it so hard to say "Racist" instead of "Angry White" (Original Post)

or a reason why the whites are angry. The former is better journalism because it states a fact. We can infer the reason why they're angry.

Not defending, per se, but I did take journalism courses in college and know a bit how the thinking goes.

"Angry whites" is painting with a broad brush - it creates an image that is larger than reality.

You can tell if someone is angry by actions; you can't be sure why they are angry.
That is how journalists are taught to parse it.
