Donald Trump Jrs.' dream of killing animals comes true

From today's NY.Times:

WASHINGTON — Baiting grizzly bears with doughnuts soaked in bacon grease. Using spotlights to blind and shoot hibernating black bear mothers and their cubs in their dens. Gunning down swimming caribou from motorboats.

Hunting methods that for years were decried by wildlife protectors and finally banned as barbaric by the Obama administration will be legal again on millions of acres of Alaskan wilderness in time for the warm July weather.

The National Park Service policy published the new rules in the Federal Register on Tuesday, reversing Obama administration rules and giving trophy hunters, outfitters and Alaskans 30 days to prepare to return to national preserves in Alaska with the revived practices. Among the reinstated tactics: killing wolves and coyotes, including pups, during the season when mothers wean their young, and using dogs to hunt bears.

Expanding hunting rights on federal lands has been a priority under the Trump administration, and an issue championed by the president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., an avid hunter. In February the Safari Club International, which promotes big-game hunting, auctioned a weeklong “dream hunt” through Alaska with the president’s son as part of its annual convention.

Seems that the Trump family just can't find enough life on Earth to kill.

Interesting timing for this jaunt - November 2020, after we know the election results.

RENO, Nev. (WTHR) — A weeklong "dream hunt" with Donald Trump Jr. is being auctioned as part of a trophy hunting convention in Nevada.

The auction, organized by the Safari Club International (SCI), will take place on the last day of the convention on Feb. 8. The highest bidder will be able to attend a weeklong Sitka black-tailed deer hunt in Alaska with Trump Jr., his son and Coastal Alaska Adventures owner Keegan McCarthy. At the time of writing, the online absentee bidding had been set at $12,500.

Trump Jr. is scheduled to give the keynote address at the convention, which begins Wednesday. The "dream hunt" will take place in November 2020. Each hunter will be able to harvest two Sitka black tailed deer. The hunt being auctioned also includes accommodations, as well as trophy fees, meals, guide service and field prep for the winner.

When you kill a mother bear or wolf and her cubs while they are sleeping, it's not hunting.

What kind of evil person feels the need to do such a thing? I can't even say what I wish would happen to him. I actually despise him even more than Ivanka at this point.

"Victor Joseph, chair of the Tanana Chiefs Conference, said the group representing 42 tribes in the Interior supports the rollback. The 2015 rule was implemented without “adequate tribal consultation," he said in a statement sent by the park service.

“The previous limitations enacted in 2015 threatened our way of life and our centuries-long sustainable management practices," he said in the statement."
